Hertfordshire Building Control achieves Occupational Health & Safety Accreditation standard ISO 45001
Statement from Simon Heywood, Managing Director HBC
“We’re delighted that we have achieved accreditation to ISO 45001, the Occupational Health and Safety Standard. ISO 45001 is the world’s first International Standard dealing with health and safety at work. The standard aims to provide a safe and healthy workplace for employees and visitors. To achieve this, it is crucial to control all factors that might result in illness, injury, and in extreme cases death, by mitigating adverse effects on the physical, mental and cognitive condition of a person – and ISO 45001 covers all of those aspects. This is a key development in doing all we can to ensure that when our people go about their duties, often at construction sites, they are as best protected as they can be.”
We are immensely proud of this achievement and wish to acknowledge the hard work of both Steve Polfreman MRICS C.Build E FCABE MFPWS and John Calvey BSc (Hons) MCIOB AIFireE. They ensured we passed the awarding body review by Alcumus with flying colours! We’re the first Local Authority Building Control body to become ISO45001 accredited!

“Well done to all the team at Hertfordshire Building Control on this achievement”
Richard Scott BSc MRICS DMS, Head of Performance & Standards LABC
