What are you studying and where?
I am studying Business Management at the University of Hertfordshire. My title is Management Trainee at Hertfordshire Building Control.
How long have you worked at HBC?
2 months! I started at the beginning of September, so I’m very new still.
What do you most enjoy about your role?
Since joining, everyone had been extremely helpful and welcoming, which has helped me to settle into my role. Also, the training that I am being provided with will help me within my current role and for the remainder of my working career. There’s an amazing atmosphere in the office, and I am always doing something different, so it keeps me interested in what I am doing.
I had the opportunity to help the Office Manager with implementing a new HR system, which presented a few challenges that we had to overcome. By working together as a team, we were able to meet the rollout deadline!
For the next 3 months I’m in working in marketing. I’m looking forward to being creative and finding out how this role fits in with the wider business.
How do you see your career progressing?
I’d like to be able to bring my knowledge of the theory from my course to Hertfordshire Building Control. It’s great to be able to see things from a different perspective to help the business develop and expand upon my role as a Management Trainee.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about joining HBC as an apprentice?
Do it, everyone is so welcoming and helps you to get into the role, along with the work being interesting and the same with the University course.
