Redevelopment of Hartham Leisure Centre
As part of the East Herts Council’s investment in leisure, Hartham Leisure Centre in Hertford is now refurbished and expanded. A new two-storey extension has been constructed on the footprint of the previous studio and reception area. The new extension boasts brand-new state-of-the-art facilities, and significant investment in refurbishing the existing building.
Eric Buckmaster, executive member for wellbeing at East Herts Council, said:
“I am delighted the newly refurbished swimming pool at Hartham Leisure Centre is open for public use. We now have a pool hall and modernised changing village, that will provide vitally important health and well-being facilities for Hertford residents and surrounding areas for many years to come.”
The re-development programme for the leisure centre is on track for completion by Summer 2023. Sustainability lies at the heart of this design, achieving a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. Key features include natural ventilation, a large photovoltaic array, rainwater harvesting and an impressive exterior living wall.
Warren Doo, director at Cadman Construction Ltd, added
“We delighted to be working with an outstanding team of architects and technical advisors delivering this BREEAM ‘Excellent’ build. This means a legacy of long-term sustainability in terms of carbon reduction and improved whole life costs of the building once operational.”
