Chelsea Court

Originally designed as a mansion block, Chelsea Court becomes updated for modern living

This imposing building is located within the Royal Hospital Conservation Area and is situated off Chelsea Embankment and Embankment Gardens.  The Royal Hospital is located east of the site and is the current freehold owner of Chelsea Court. The site benefits from excellent views of the River Thames as well as Battersea Park beyond. We’re leading the compliance process on this prestigious development refurbishing, restoring, and extending the current building and its communal areas. We’re able to do this as part of our cross-boundary working system.

Chelsea Court was completed in 1895 and was originally designed as a mansion block containing 18 flats. A conversion of the building which was completed in the 1980s turned the building to its current use which contains 78 dwellings. This is currently managed by Family Mosaic as affordable accommodation for older residents. However, the standard of accommodation is below that of which they’d like to provide.

The inspection work we are conducting includes inspecting the internal reconfiguration of the existing accommodation resulting in 20 newly laid out units, in addition to the refurbishment of 51 flats. A new welcoming communal entrance is completed, following the demolition of the northern entrance.

The scheme is expected to be finished during Summer 2022.
